this little fella was found 30 miles from the nearest town and 10 miles from my home. My daughter was coming home and saw a little brown moving creature in the middle of the road. We taught our children to stop and put any creature out of its misery that really can't be saved. If it can be saved, take it to the nearest.. vet or animal control or wildlife rescue.

my daughter pulled over and walked into the middle of the road to take a look... there he was..... a baby! what breed it is has yet to be determined.. he weighs 2 pounds and may be 3-6 weeks old... I doubt any older due to coordination, ability to eat and drink out of a bowl.

we are thinking that a name like Mateo (Ma Tao) - 'God's Gift' might be appropriate but my husband likes Sancho because the old saying was "Sancho is there when the husband is at work" <rolls eyes>

Oh my goodness Brook, he is such a cutie pie! Has German Shepard in him, I bet! How can people be so cruel ! Thank goodness their are people in this world like you who love animals.
Unbelievable this poor little baby, all alone in the middle of no-where an could have been killed ......

I will have nightmares tonight!~ These types of things eat me up inside and bring tears to my eyes.

He has a home and I have to tell you it is all I can do to keep all my big dogs from wanting to mother him! ok, father him too!

He isn't ready to be slobbered over yet.

I have to keep my tongue behind my teeth about dumping animals cause what I have to say about people like this isn't allowed in public!

He needs a coat! he is very tiny as you can see by the kleenex box.

Brook,

What a beautiful name you have chosen for him.

Why do you have to bite your tongue? I think these things need to be said.

So glad though that your daughter stopped to see or who knows what would have happen to the poor thing.

we are very rural, I live in the mountains above the desert valley below. The typical predators run free... coyotes, mountain lions, foxes, raccoons, bears, Week-end Warriors (cars driving fast in the canyons winding roads).

He is a cutie. He is drinking fresh goats milk - all nice and warm, he isn't sure about dry food, water he will sniff and walk away, he will eat the puppy food in the foil packets... *shrug* and he insists on taking on giant leather chews! LOL! (not that he gets anywhere but he tries)

My big dogs know he is a baby and insist on slobbering all over him! they are stressed when he wimpers, and I have a male that wants to carry him around by the scruff of his neck! the female wants to lick his bottom to clean him up. My 2 year old Male Cannon just knows that he is "MINE" and he needs to "BE GENTLE" when sniffing him. I am thinking about making a riding pad to put on Cannon so the pup can go for a ride. ROFL!!! my own little one ring circus!

People dump cats and dogs all over .. I wonder what they think is going to happen to them. My office was at an airport and I would find kittens and pups dumped but only after the kittens had been there a day or two and were semi-wild and the puppies were half starved.... guess people thought someone would take them home.. but reality is the coyotes got them most of the time and when I found them, I had to take them to the pound. it isn't what I wanted to do but we have a 3 dog limit.. Los Angeles County rules.

I wish my daughter was lying about this puppy so she could keep it, but she is called me in a panic ... 'I .. I ... I found a puppy! it is a baby... what should I do?' and I asked where she was... she was 10 miles from home or 30 miles from the pound.... I caved.. bring it home!

I wish she had been given the puppy ... I would feel better about it.. but knowing some idiot sentenced this baby to a death sentence... makes me want to find them and report them! and I would.

he is sound asleep in his crate..door opened so he can come and go.

my little one has grown! he is a chiweenie! a ChiWeenie! I crack up everytime I say it! chiweenie! chiweenie! can't believe anyone would cross the two but guess it is a popular breed.

he is asleep between my husbands feet.

well since he is part German... he needed a German name added so... now he is;

Mateo Sancho Jose Gonzales Shultz

the name is almost as long as he is!

the big dogs love him. He grabs a tail and runs.. when he gets to the end he falls down. It is too funny. He stands under a dog waiting for crumbs to fall and then quickly eats the crumbs!

When he lays down next to my female, she licks him and about lifts him off the floor!

oh goodness the entertainment value is wonderful!

he is going to need coats here because it gets so cold in the winter. Good thing I can design!

Brook, it is so great that he is flourishing . I have never heard of a Chi and a hot dog mix before. This is the first ! How about some new photos <G> Love to see photos or video of him and how he waits under the others for food. That has to be comical!
